A heavier version of our obsidian strand, built for a larger wrist: 12 mm or 14 mm beads strung on braided cord with a stainless steel clasp rather than elastic, because a stretch cord under that much weight tends to fail first. Obsidian is volcanic glass, so the beads read as near-black with a faint sheen rather than a polish. In the Five Elements scheme black sits with water. Sold as a piece of jewellery for people who prefer a substantial bracelet.

Most beaded bracelets in this size range are sold on elastic, and most of them break within a year — a 14 mm obsidian strand weighs close to 100 g, and stretch cord is not designed to carry that repeatedly. We use braided cord with a stainless steel clasp instead, which is why this piece is priced above the elastic version.
The clasp is 316L stainless steel, the grade used in watch cases and body jewellery. It is not silver and not gold, and it will not tarnish the way plated metal does.
Sizing is a real issue at this weight: measure your wrist and add roughly 1 cm for comfort. If you are between the two sizes and prefer a looser fit, take the larger.
