A quartz cluster is a natural specimen, not a manufactured object. The crystals grow as hexagonal prisms with pointed terminations, radiating from a common base — some opaque and milky at the root, clear at the tip. No two clusters are alike; the one you receive will differ from the photograph in size, point count and clarity.
Natural quartz from Donghai, Jiangsu — the region that supplies most of the world trade in decorative quartz. It is sold unpolished, with the matrix still attached. Handle it by the base: the terminations are sharp.
