Three tools do most of the work in gongfu tea. The cha ze measures dry leaf out of the caddy into the pot. The spoon clears the spent leaves out afterwards. The needle clears a blocked spout — a real problem with small-ball oolong, which expands and can plug the filter.
All three are bamboo, oiled rather than lacquered, so they should be wiped dry after use rather than left to soak. The set rolls into a cotton case.
