Drop earrings in stone are traditionally cut as smooth rounded forms rather than faceted, for a practical reason: nephrite is made of interlocking fibres, and a faceted cut would leave thin edges that chip. A rounded teardrop presents no thin edge to catch.
Sterling silver hooks are the standard for pierced ears because silver is soft enough to be comfortable in the piercing and does not contain the nickel that triggers most metal sensitivity. Ours carry the 925 stamp. We do not rhodium-plate them, so the hooks will darken slowly and can be brought back with a cloth.
The pair is matched for colour but not identical — the two drops come from the same rough block and can differ slightly in tone where the colour runs unevenly.
