The twelve-animal cycle is a calendar, not a personality test: each year is assigned one of twelve animals in rotation, and the year you were born in gives you your animal. Within a family it is common for one animal to repeat across generations, which is why a pendant like this is often bought for someone else rather than for oneself — a grandparent and a grandchild sharing a birth animal is the usual reason.
One thing we will not do is explain what your animal says about you. The zodiac is a counting system with a long history; the character readings sold alongside it vary wildly between sources and we do not repeat them.
Each carving is done by hand in shallow relief, so two pendants of the same animal are not identical. If you are buying to match someone's birth year, tell us the year and we will confirm the animal rather than leaving you to count.
