A jubao pen is an open brass bowl, usually fairly shallow and quite heavy, kept where money changes hands. The name translates roughly as "gathering bowl." It is a decorative object and a container — what you put in it is up to you.
This one is raised from a single brass sheet by spinning, then hammered to work-harden the walls, which gives it the faint faceting you can see in the photographs. Brass patinas over time; a little lemon juice and a soft cloth will take it back to bright. Sold empty.
