At this size a brass figure is no longer a single casting. The body, head, tail and base are moulded separately, cast, then welded together and ground back until the seams vanish — which is why large brass sculpture costs disproportionately more than small pieces. It is also why each one varies slightly: the chasing is done by hand.
The finish here is deliberately uneven, darker in the recesses and brighter on the raised surfaces. 3.8 kg, so it wants a floor or a solid piece of furniture. Two people to move it, every time.
